The building, built in 1918, originally served as the Ursuline Sisters Academy Boarding School. It was recently given to the community by the Ursuline Sisters, and renovated for use as a community center. Today, the building serves as an arts showcase for Paola and Miami County's diverse communities, offering multicultural arts and education programming.
A mold was used to form the shape of the glass bowls. The mold and glass are placed in a kiln, where the increasing fluidity of the glass with temperature causes the glass to 'slump' into the mold under the force of gravity.

Here we see several completed glass bowls, prior to being shipped to the Paola Community Center for installation.------------------------------------------------------
