The lanterns, manufactured around the early 1930's, were originally suspended from a long rod. There was no longer a need for the lanterns in their original location, so they sat in storage and suffered from neglect.
In order to come up with a historically accurate solution for post mounted lanterns at the resident's home, one of our artisans suggested a restoration and modification of the vintage lanterns so that they would not go to waste.
The suspension rods located at the top of the fixtures were removed and all glass panels and detachable metal components were removed so the fixture could be cleaned, refinished and rewired in accordance with UL standards.
At this point, all needed modifications have been made and the restoration of the lanterns are nearly complete. Once finished, the modified lanterns will serve their new purpose as post lanterns for decades to come.
