Following discussions with the client about the designs of the fixture, hand-drawings were prepared and sent for approval. These drawings can be seen below.
Ten of the fixtures will be hanging lanterns. These lanterns will measure approximately 6" wide by 11" high, and will be hand forged with heavy iron to achieve a rustic appearance. The fixtures, intended for the foyer of the home, will be UL dry rated, feature 3 feet of chain and panels of German Seedy glass.
The two wall mounted lanterns will have a similar appearance but will measure 11" high by 5 1/2" wide, and will be UL wet rated for use outdoors.
Once the drawings were approved by the client, forged iron samples were sent to the client to give them a sense of the weight and quality of the work to be completed. A sample of the German Seedy glass was sent as well. Both samples were approved, and work has since begun. Photos of the custom fixtures will be posted as the project progresses.
This side-view of the sample shows the thickness of the material.
