Built in 1916 by Clarence Wait of the firm Aschauer and Waggoner of Decater, Illinois, the Lincoln Square Theatre was highly regarded at its time and has continued to be for almost a century. The theatre has hosted many performances including opera, film, vaudeville, concerts and more.

After years of studies and red-tape formalities, the decision to restore the historical theatre finally went through. With generous grants from the state government, local business and the community, the Lincoln Square Theatre would be saved.

To reinstate and preserve a building of such historical significance, it was important that the management at the Lincoln Square Theatre work with the right people, and Grand Light's lighting restoration specialists were among them. Called to repair three eight-light pendants, the team from Grand Light worked to artfully refurbish the pieces to look consistent with complementary fixtures on the site.

Kiln-bent German glass held together by a custom leaded foil frame, and intricate scroll detailing made the pieces difficult to not only restore, but also to re-create. The plaster frames of the pendants needed to be reproduced, damaged plaster needed repair, and the original gold finish needed to be restored.

Grand Light reproduced the frames and glass pieces of eight-light plaster pendants. Grand Light also restored and modified an antique sign, modernizing it to accept Edison base compact fluorescent lamps, and also buffing the sign to give it back its original luster. In addition to the antique chandeliers and sign, Grand Light also restored a set of wall sconces in the auditorium of the theatre. All of Grand Light's work for the historic theatre was done in accordance with UL standards.
