Grand Light was contracted to clean and conserve three large outdoor fixtures from the Lionheart Art Gallery in Scotts Corner, New York. Two of the fixtures are identical wall mounted lanterns, 24" in height, these need to be cleaned, have glass replaced and a replacement bottom finial on one of them. The third fixture is about 30" in height and has suffered severe damage from the elements. Grand Light will need to completely reconstruct this fixture.
The two wall lanterns were bead blasted, and cracks were braised. Patina infill will be applied to match the existing. The iron fixture has been cleaned and several replacement pieces have been fabricated for it's reconstruction.
The large iron fixture's frame was in the state of nearly 100% deterioration. It was determined that it was necessary to reconstruct the fixture from the bottom up. The reconstruction of the frame incorporated original techniques of riveting were used during the original construction of the the fixture. After the intensive reconstruction, the fixture was primed and painted. A coating of lacquer was applied, and new 1/8" glass panels were added to complete the fixture.
